LORD BADEN POWELL ( SCOUT FOUNDER )
On February 22, 1857, a baby was born in a house near Hyde Park, London. The baby was named Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden Powell. His father named Reverend H.G. Baden Powell, which is a great teacher at the University of Oxford. His mother was daughter of a British admiral named WT Smyth. He has seven siblings. At the age of three years old, his father died and he remained in the care of his mother. He was very fond of outdoor life. He is best known by the nickname of BP. BP was fond of children.
BP commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Team of the 13th Hussar Regiment and stationed in India in 1876, and was later promoted to Chief Inspector in 1903. In an attack on Mafeking in 1899, BP plans to bring the messages and replace soldiers on the battlefield with children who live in a city that was attacked.
Speed and efficiency of these children left a very deep impression on the hearts of BP and in 1907, upon returning to England, he had organized a trial camp at Brownsea Island for boys. Through the success of the camp on Brownsea Island, in 1908, BP has authored a book called Scouting For Boys. BP inculcate a spirit of obedience to God, King and Country. This success is unmatched by friends who were his peers. The essence of the legacy he leaves behind is a regular mix of efficiency and discipline that develops the fundamental basis of a human being.
In the First World Scout Jamboree in Olympia, BP has been appointed as the General Scouting around the world. In 1937, at age 80 years, BP along with his wife. Lady Baden Powell, who was in earnest help BP in the works to expand scouting movement, accompanied by his sons, leaving the City of London to Kenya in Africa and residing in a peaceful village with beautiful scenery, woodlands, mountain peak covered by snow is where BP relax after long devoted to the world. Lord Baden Powell has received numerous awards such as 'Baron' and has been the Chief Scout of the World. In 1937, he received the Order of Merit. He has continued in this field until the age of 80. He then traveling around the world is to witness their own scouts and girl scout activities.
His life, BP has been trying to create joy to others through scouting. As such, it is a great loss for everyone especially scouts when on January 8, 1941 BP died. He was buried with full honors under the softness of the shadow of Mount Kenya
